Q. What inspired you to pursue a career as a physician?
I guess having asthma, seasonal allergies, and really bad eyesight as a child necessitating at least twice weekly doctor visits well into my high school years. I could not even do PE until 5th grade!

Rashes, autoimmune disorders, pediatric dermatology
Q. What are some of the highlights of your career?
Teaching 19 years of Dermatology at UCLA. Being chief of a 7 doctor dermatology department at Southern California Kaiser for 10 years (learning never to be an administrator again). Winning the UCLA dermatology teaching award at UCLA 5 times.
Q. What do you recommend patients do to maintain healthy skin?
Avoid tanning & moisturize
Q: Do you have advice for preventing the signs of aging without spending a fortune?
Avoid tanning
What do you include in your own skin care regimen?
Unscented sensitive skin cleansers and moisturizers. I avoid scented personal, body, & laundry products. Oh… and I avoid tanning!
Q. What are the most common procedures you perform?
I perform skin cancer surgery. I avoid doing cosmetic procedures.

My wife
Q. What do you like to do for fun?
Gardening, bird watching & caring for my Cavalier King Charles Spaniels
